MOTHER EARTH, UMBILICALS TO GEO HABITAT RING, AND CHRISTMAS

The Christmas Story, about the birth of Jesus, tells of

a birth 2000 years ago that occured under very difficult

conditions---an unwed mommy (Mary), an unhappy fiance

(Joseph), a long trip on horseback (to Bethlehem) at term of

pregnancy, just to be counted for the census, and the

insideous insecure ruler of the land (King Herod) determined

to kill the child --- yet the birthing persevered, the

child was led to safety, and lived to teach us wonderful

things, as we read in Matthew, Mark and Luke.

Now I am seeing humanity poised at the brink of a new

kind of birthing, which is not as science-fiction-like as it

looks at first, creating good news for humanity and Planet

Earth:

Mother Earth can be considered very pregnant with

humanity, and the concepts for creating an umbilical cord

for the birthing exists now! An umbilical function, for the

birthing of the multitudes of humanity into the promised

land of the vast resources of space, energy and raw

materials awaiting life in the solar system, can be made.

Up these umbilicals can pour Earth's teeming civilizations:

four billion industrious, peaceably constructive people

needed to build, operate, and live in the first space

settlements.

The concept for creating this kind of umbilical is

recent. It is based on a new way for transferring energy,

materials and information from place to place. This concept

for creating a mass transportation umbilical elevator from

Earth surface to GEO consists of an evacuated tube

containing a stream of orbital velocity mass travelling

within it. The tube excludes the air from the path of the

high speed mass stream, and refines its position. The mass

stream's kinetic energy is in electromagnetic connection

with its environs, supporting its protective tube and

supplying power to payload/people elevators travelling along

the outside of the tube. Some of the mass stream can be

materials destined for construction at GEO. The primary

power that electromagnetically accellerates this mass stream

comes from Solar Power Satellites that hover alongside each

umbilical elevator; surplus electrical power they generate

is delivered downward by the elevator mass stream to provide

electrical power for the cities that remain on the Earth's

surface.

Picture in your mind such umbilicals reaching up from

every nation, extending to Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO)

which encircles the Earth at 5 times the Earth's radius.

Currently our telephone and TV relay satellites are in use

at GEO. Here a string of space habitats can be built, like

a necklace of pearls around the planet. Each of these

habitats is a wheel-like Stanford Torus over one mile in

diameter, spinning to provide Earthlike gravity, and each

one provides homes, landscaping, factories, and agriculture

for 10,000 people living a high standard of living. There

is room for 1,476,000 of these space habitats per ring

around the planet. The majority of humanity is expected to

choose to move to the high-standard-of living in the GEO

habitat ring, allowing Mother Earth's surface to return to

an ecological balance...tended lovingly by her children, the

dwellers of the GEO Habitat Ring.

Up the umbilical elevators soon could go teeming

humanity and the initial construction materials for the

first space settlements and solar power satellites...if we

choose to put the effort into doing so.

Will pregnant mother give birth to child, during

current difficult circumstances, or will both perish? The

time is ripe, civilization teems from within. Let us prepare

for the birthing process to begin!
