Look around you right now, do you see anything that is not manufactured? Lucky if you can see a tree, grass or a few houseplants. Everything else is "man made", most likely. We like to live in facilities that are made to fit us. And yes, we need to get out in nature to rejuvenate, sometimes. That is why the envisioned drawings made for large scale space habitats contain nature-scene areas.

GEO is a long way from home, the earth surface. Why would anyone want to go there, even if it is comfortable and safe? Maybe one needs to ask that question of pioneers. It may be that there is a sense of adventure, of new beginnings, of escape from an increasingly toxic earth surface. Maybe a chance to make a difference, by one's life efforts.
