It is very much easier to just keep on doing things we are doing them, business as usual. And let the future take care of itself, it always has, right? Besides, the established space-related corporations will naturally supress anything not favorable for their finances in the immediate future, so why make your life difficult?

In closed ecosystems, eventually the resources are converted into wastes, end of process, new kind of ecosystem, new kind of life forms. But then, you would probably not be around yourself, anyway, right? So "eat, sleep, and be merry, for tomorrow..."
