KESTS to GEO could provide low cost electrical lift of spacecraft launch vehicles and their chemical propellants to spaceport facilities in GEO, so as to enable them to start (and end) their interplanetary journeys already 91% out of the earth's gravitational energy well and far above the atmosphere's drag, thus enabling whole new kinds of adventurous explorations and resource gatherings, a high gateway to the solar system.
Missions to the Moon, to Mars and the asteroids, could be far more economical and have much greater payload delivery, increasing the safety and odds of success for such missions in the next decades.
No more risky re-entry parts of space missions, the gentle return to Earth surface being done electrically by the KESTS transportation system which will be able to recover much of that energy otherwise lost to heat during re-entry of a spacecraft.
Huge amounts of fuel would be saved, missions expanded far beyond anything otherwise possible, new vistas for mankind. Surely this is a worthy project. Why is it still being suppressed?
